The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and documentation of circuits for electro-mechanical transducers, vibration generators and associated accessories.  Provides technical support to both internal and external customers.



Follows a complete and thorough process when developing new designs or supporting existing products, including:

  1. initial and final design documentation
  2. initial and final specification definition plus supporting documentation
  3. input and interaction of other contributing departments
  4. performance testing and documented verification
  5. consideration of costing, scheduling, and failure effects analysis
  6. attention to all applicable company policies and procedures



  1. Design, develop, and deliver new products meeting specified requirements for products in the medical, oil & gas, safety, automotive and aerospace markets.
  2. Develop and refine Bills of Materials for products; procure parts and materials necessary for prototype and pilot development.
  3. Perform electronic circuit design, simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout of electrical designs.
  4. Perform tests and evaluation of designs and products ensuring technical regulations and standards are met. Resolve Quality issues utilizing problem solving methodology and root cause analysis techniques.
  5. Complete and maintain appropriate documentation for cost effective production of products.
  6. Communicate new product ideas or product improvements to senior management.
  7. Coordinate projects and tasks with appropriate department or project team members to deliver expected results on time.
  8. Work with field application engineers to provide product support for our customers.
  9. Provide manufacturing/production support as needed.
  10. Other duties as assigned.



Experience / Background

  1. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in an electronic design environment with emphasis on product design and development
  2. A demonstrated history of project management showing successful delivery of fully released products which were delivered on-time and on-budget
  3. A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with SMT-assembly tools and operation of electronic test equipment
  4. Demonstrated computer proficiency, including at-least one programming language plus Excel, schematic capture, circuit layout, and simulation



  1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.



  1. A thorough knowledge of electrical parts and material selection plus associated design processes and techniques required for product development and support
  2. A thorough knowledge of the operation and use of instrumentation used in the evaluation and testing of vibration products, including: DVMs, Oscilloscopes, Network analyzers, Environmental chambers, Sensor and Shaker apparatus
  3. Demonstrated laboratory skills such as hand-soldering, SMT re-work, microscope operation, ESD-safe, plus electrical connection, operation, and test
  4. Demonstrated ability to manage projects; demonstrated ability to manage inputs beyond project scope, such as customer application, wiring, and system-use
  5. Demonstrated prediction/simulation capabilities, including mathematical/SPICE prediction of analog circuits or IDE-simulation of digital circuits
  6. Demonstrated circuit design and layout proficiency using OrCad (Cadence), Protel (Altium) or Mentor Graphics
  7. Ability to read and create electrical schematics; ability to read mechanical drawings
  8. Demonstrated programming experience in at-least one language/system including Assembly, C, C++, C#, Labview, Matlab, VHDL, or Verilog
  9. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) plus Visio and MS-Project / Turbo-Project
  10. Ability to manage abilities and schedules of other direct and non-direct reporting resources as required
  11. Good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills



Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb.  May have possible exposure to dust, and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
