The Production Planner coordinates activities required for manufacturing cells to meet customer ship dates.  They will act as a liaison between Production and Customer Service for expediting and order status communications.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reviews all labor & material requirements for      new customer orders and determines committed ship date to Customer Service      for order acknowledgment
  1. Monitors work order progress and notifies Customer Service of potential late shipments
  2. Performs the Manufacturing and Financial close function for Manufacturing work orders and reviews variances with appropriate functional teams to resolve for future job orders
  3. Assist Team Leaders in labor capacity planning
  4. Responsible for On-Time Delivery %
  5. Resolve work order shortages
  6. Release job orders to cover sales order demands
  7. Communicate material expedites required to Buyer
  1. Sets production schedules to maximize production      efficiencies and satisfy customer demands.      
  2. Confers with Team Leaders to determine progress of      work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received      from engineering department
  3. Monitors material inventories to ensure required      materials are available when required
  4. Determines required job order start dates and      releases job orders to the appropriate departments
  5. Works with Manufacturing Engineering & Quality      to plan implementation of Change Orders
  6. Monitors capacity constraints and communicates with      Team Leaders to get proper personnel allocated
  7. Notifies Management of any long term capacity      constraints due to product mix or volume
  8. Plans and coordinates activities related to the      timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning, and      quality control of production materials in an ERP environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience/Background:

  1. A secondary certificate/high      school diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work      experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  2. Requires at least four years in      Manufacturing
  3. Membership and certification in      APICS preferred but not required.
  4. Knowledge of material resource      planning
  5. Experience in production control
  6. Made-2-Manage a plus
  7. Kanban experience a plus

 

Skills

  1. Strong attention to detail,      highly organized and ability to multitask
  2. Excellent verbal and written      communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to      completion 
  3. Must be able maintain focus under      pressure and changing priorities
  4. Familiarity with MS Office      particularly Word, Access and Excel
  5. Excellent written and verbal      communication skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Office / Sedentary Requirements:

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. May have possible exposure to dust.
